The Catlins is a truly pristine environment. They comprise the largest remaining stand of Native Forest left on the East Coast of the South Island, of New Zealand. This unique Temperate Coastal Rainforest is host to many native species of birds and sea life. We are all indeed privileged to be in this very special and unspoilt part of the world.

In order to preserve this special place in paradise, Our Holiday Park has a Carbon Neutral Environmental Goal. As part of this goal, we have retired two working sheep farms in the Catlins and planted trees to absorb the green house gases produced in the course of our motor caravan holidays. In July 1996, we planted one million trees in the Tahakopa Valley, Catlins, immediately adjacent to this property.

On the Southern Scenic Route

"One Day, One Place "

Stay awhile

You have come all this way, to the bottom of the world. Next stop, Antarctica.

The Catlins, steeped in history and swathed in the mists of time. Old whaling stations, home to a petrified forest, cascading waterfalls and wildlife that is thriving in an uncorrupted eco environment.

So many people think of passing through the Catlins en route to other places. So many people are wrong.... The Catlins is a holiday in itself!

“TWENTY years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” - Mark Twain

Take your time and sit awhile. Explore the Catlins one day, one place, one day at a time.
